Restoring Salmon Habitat in Muir Woods EA/MND Released

Public Comment Period: January 29-February 28, 2018. The State Coastal Conservancy (SCC) invites public comment on a salmonid habitat restoration project on National Park Service lands at Muir Woods in Marin County. The project is described in an Environmental Assessment (EA) entitled Salmon Habitat Enhancement and Bridge Replacement Project, available here.

SCC intends to utilize a Finding of No Significant Impact in lieu of a Negative Declaration, pursuant to CEQA §15221. The project will remove riprap and asphalt along a streambank; relocate 25 fallen trees to the creek to improve fish habitat; install debris structures to trap sediment and reconnect floodplain; plant native riparian species; and add grade control and vegetative debris in two drainages to trap sediment and raise groundwater levels.

Submit comments to Michael Bowen at SCC, 1515 Clay St, 10th floor, Oakland, CA 94612, or on or before February 28, 2018. The SCC Board will consider public comments at a public meeting at 9 AM on March 22, 2018 at the Elihu Harris State Building, 1515 Clay St, 2nd floor, Rm 2, Oakland, CA 94612.
